She writes in the margins

“A blank space never did nobody no good,”

she would say while filling it in.

She would write her words

and her thoughts

her tears

her smiles

and her joy

and her sadness.

She didn’t read books

she talked to them

and they talked back.

she loved their lives

and she lived their loves.

And well enough was never let alone

an ending didn’t mean it had to end

as long as there was some blank space to fill in.
